The new Secretary of State, John Kerry continues his European tour after London and Berlin, will take him to Rome to participate in two important international events. After a bilateral meeting with Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi, Kerry will participate in the “Transatlantic dinner” which were sent to representatives of 34 countries, the NATO Secretary General Rasmussen and the head of European diplomacy Ashton. Dinner, usually held after the leaders of NATO or the UN assembly, was brought forward to allow the new secretary of state to meet a greater number of European foreign ministers and tackle some hot topics including the US-negotiated EU on the Transatlantic Free Trade area (Tafta) or the creation of a free trade to boost growth, announced by Obama in his State of the Union.
Thursday will be the turn of the meeting of the High Level Group “Friends of Syria”. The meeting between eleven Western countries and the Middle East aims to coordinate international support for the opposition and strengthen interventions of humanitarian assistance to try to find a solution to the Syrian crisis.
